Barn conversions are becoming increasingly popular as these old, underutilised spaces are repurposed for various uses. MAKE had such aspirations, hoping to redevelop two agricultural buildings into large-scale luxury accommodations. But, for the project to go ahead, MAKE needed to show the finished project would meld seamlessly into the adjacent woodland, so they asked Visual Square to create a series of property CGIs.
Now completed, the Barn conversion in Oxfordshire is bookable by large groups seeking a taste of rural comfort. The two units of the Barns – sleep 12 and 14 people, respectively, and come with a range of amenities, including a shared games room, private hot tubs and open fireplaces. A wide range of walks are available, courtesy of the Oxfordshire countryside, with the nearby village offering charming places to eat, drink and learn about the local history.
Aesthetically, the restored barns needed to show a modern take on the traditional buildings. The cladding was added with the surrounding areas in mind, but equally important was ensuring that the decades-old stone was maintained and featured in the final design. Inside, the high ceiling was kept to provide a lofty, open social space.
